I’m not quite sure how I learned about Big Night, but once I learned there was a West Village location (back in May…oops sorry for not sharing sooner), I decided to make it the focal point of a Friday off work. I am sad to say I walked out of the store empty handed, but that’s truly because I wanted absolutely EVERYTHING and was full-on paralyzed by indecision.

Let’s start by saying that the store itself is insanely cute and downright dreamy for Type A personalities who will love that the store is not only organized by color but set to follow the flow of an apartment. There’s glassware – oh, the glassware! – all in the front. It’s stunning. Then as you make your way to the back of the store, you’ll find a built in bar that leads to a “kitchen” and then the refrigerator and pantry (stocked with actual goods like chili oil and tinned fish) before looping that horseshoe back around to more glassware. All this with the register as an island in the middle. The store feels like a conversation.

I would return for the variety of niche tinned fish brands alone. And a hint for my husband: I would be happy to receive a gift of literally anything from this store – even a toothpick – especially if it’s in my signature color.

If you’re into fun and funky mid-century modern vibes, thrive while entertaining, and prioritize quality and uniqueness, Big Night is THE store for you. (Side note: I feel like the previous description could just be the Tess Konter Neudeck elevator pitch.) Now that I’ve had time to think over all the amazing products (and kick myself for not buying out the inventory while there last time), I intend to return and stock up. Many items fall into the investment or “grown up” home category…but I’m a grown up now, aren’t I?
